PRE-SCHOOL - AGE 3 TO GRADE R
GRGS Preschool develop our girls holistically with emotional intelligence at the forefront of the school’s program. This helps the girls navigate through an extensive curriculum which includes swimming, music, drama and computers. This to ignite their love of learning for future scholastic success. Our Preschool classes each have a Teacher Assistant.
JUNIOR PRIMARY - GRADE 1 to 3
The Foundation Phase consists of three classes in each grade from Grade 1 – 3. Each class in Grade 1 has a Teacher Assistant and in Grade 2 and 3 there is a Teacher Assistant per grade. The Teacher Assistants greatly enhance the learning and teaching process. Our Foundation Phase classes are beautifully decorated and are equipped with Interactive Whiteboards using the latest technology. 2019 saw the introduction of Flexible Seating in the Foundation Phase. Different shaped tables and chairs steers away from the traditional seating and encourages a more comfortable learning environment. The girls thoroughly enjoy having a chance to experience a turn each week on the different types of stations that are offered
SENIOR PRIMARY - GRADE 4 TO 7
The Intermediate and Senior Phase consists of three classes in each grade from Grade 4 – 7. There are Teacher Assistants in each grade. Our committed teachers strive for academic excellence in all aspects of the curriculum. Our girls attend Media, Physical Education, Performing Arts including Music and Drama and Computer lessons. With further specialists in Languages and Mathematics extending and supporting our girls. The girls are offered the opportunity to develop leadership qualities with various leadership roles in the school. Girls are encouraged to interact confidently with staff and peers whilst at the same time showing respect and consideration for others
HOME WORK CENTRE
Gordon Road Girls’ School has a Homework Centre for our girls in grade 1 – 7 and an After Care facility for our girls in grade 000 – R. It is a place where they are able to complete their homework and enjoy some fun, games and socialization once their homework has been completed under the supervision of an educator or a facilitator. Homework Centre Facilities and After Care is available until 17:15, Monday to Friday.
